Artistieke Vriendschap en samenwerking tussen Beeldende Kunst / Poëzie / Muziek & Architectuur
Waarom dit project ? Vriendschap, Samenwerking ?
Om daadwerkelijk te komen tot samenwerking, van waaruit of op grond waarvan vriendschap kan ontstaan, vormen de drijfveer om dit project te realiseren.
De uitwerking die mogelijk kan ontstaan door dit project is juist door het aangaan en samenbrengen van verschillende disciplines en gezamenlijk naar buiten te treden.
Het confronteren met elkaar en elkaars werk creëert wellicht een nieuwe, dan wel een bredere visie, dan alleen de eigen discipline.
Op twee locaties zal ter afronding van dit project een presentatie / tentoonstelling worden gerealiseerd. Bij Haagse Kunstkring te Den Haag en BaZtille-Ateliers te Zoetermeer. Kijk op tabblad Nieuws en evenementen voor de lijst deelnemers.   Ricardo Sibelo bezig met de voorbereidingen samen met Peggy van den Oudenaller. De videoproductie is te zien tijdens de expositie. tall trees stand steady
in the backyards
as houses stand proudly
their identity in full color
somewhere the wrong turn is taken
the turn to grey ends
a forgotten community with nothing more left
then promises, broken homes abandoned
emptiness stays as their last guest
no bed, no breakfast
people paralyzed in great despair and agony
paranoia and apathy steal the scene
a steel finger points at houses, breaking through past intimacy
tearing down hope, future
a black curtain as a mourning flag
waves goodbye, a last salute
memories collected in a camera
as a tribute to a towns’ wandering soul
the young boy tells
what’s there, what’s left
shoes on a string walking their way
in the wind in dead-ends
where everything is said
a violent voice yells, a gunshot splits
the long, long night, followed by
the silence of a dead town

Het thema samenwerken is een boeiend gegeven in een wereld waar vooral de individualiteit geldt. Zo heeft iedere (beeldend) kunstenaar een geheel eigen “handschrift”. Wat mij interessant lijkt is om te onderzoeken hoe een samenwerking met een andere kunstenaar kan leiden tot een kunstwerk waar dat “eigen handschrift” een nieuwe betekenis krijgt.
Tijdens de kennismaking heb ik met Elly Lagendijk en Matilde Zijp mijn idee over de samenwerking besproken.
Het idee was om met elkaar op losse tekenvellen van gelijk formaat te tekenen, met een keuze uit 3 of 4 materiaalsoorten. Op deze vellen is een zodanig kader aangegeven dat ze in de lengte of de breedte op elkaar aansluiten. De losse tekeningen (bijvoorbeeld 3 stuks) worden samengevoegd tot een tekening. Wat is de wisselwerking tussen de “handschriften” en is te zien of het werk gemaakt is door 1 of meerdere kunstenaars?
We zijn tijdens een tweede ontmoeting met dit idee verder gegaan en hebben toen besloten om een gedicht als inspiratiebron te nemen voor onze tekeningen, namelijk “New York” van Miriam Van hee. De losse tekeningen van wisselend formaat vormen samen één grote tekening.
We zijn eerst afzonderlijk aan de slag gegaan om de “eerste laag” te tekenen/schilderen en weer bijeen gekomen om verder te werken aan elkaars tekeningen zodat er zogezegd 3 lagen ontstaan. Het resultaat is spannend en verwarrend. Beelden waarbij één nieuw “handschrift” aanwezig is. Maar ook beelden met 3 verschillende “handschriften”. Wat leuk is om te ervaren hoe je inspeelt op elkaars werk en wat een ander toevoegt aan de compositie qua kleur, vorm etc. Iets wat je zelf totaal niet zou toevoegen maar een heel verassend geheel oplevert. Het geeft een nieuwe kijk op je eigen “handschrift” en je manier van werken. Het forceert je opnieuw naar het werk te kijken.

Nicky Larkin and Frans de Jong
In april and may of 2010 the Irish artist Nicky Larkin stayed at BaZtille Zoetermeer as an
artist in residence. At that time Petra Wiek started her project Artistic Friendship between artists in The Hague and Zoetermeer, a cooperation between artists of those towns, ending in an exhibition in both The Hague (HKK) and Zoetermeer (BaZtille) in august. Nicky Larkin at that time laid his last hands on his film ‘Beyond the Roundabout?’. Frans de Jong, one of the artists in BaZtille, saw the result of Nicky’s long film (44 minutes)
and was caught by its tension from the very first frame to the last. In a way he felt a poetic atmosphere and beauty although the subject was of a disastrous and astonishing reality. If life can be without any human perspective Nicky has shown that in an clever and touching way by filming a community which is left over to poverty, crime and deprivation. It is heartbreaking to see how the playing of little children is flowing from a harsh reality. Game and reality are one and the same. And this is a deadly game. Frans suggested Nicky to take part in the project of Petra Wiek and make a shorter film of
Roundabout and that he would write a poem. In June 2010 the cooperation between Nicky and Frans resulted in a short film of a few minutes with parts of the poem Frans wrote , inspired by the full film, added to it. The idea was that the poetry shouldn’t be a “subtitle”, nor that the film should be an illustration of (parts of) the poem. The whole idea was to create “an atmosphere of lost hope and isolation” in a couple of minutes. Nicky and Frans gave their ‘project’ the title of the poem: The Wrong Turn. It both gives
expression to the title of the full film of Nicky ‘Beyond the Roundabout?’ as well as the idea of Frans that when people make the wrong decisions in their lives the outcome can be devastating and touch so many other people. The Wrong Turn will be shown at the Double Exhibition in HKK, The Haque and BaZtille,

Beyond The Roundabout? is a film by Irish artist Nicky Larkin exploring the notorious
Moyross & Southill estates in Limerick city. Commissioned by The Irish Arts Council and The Belltable Arts Centre and shot over the course of eight months, it merges documentary with experimental film and video-art as it takes us deep inside Ireland’s most neglected estates, areas widely regarded as the worst in the country in terms of poverty, crime and deprivation. The Limerick City Council has decided to completely demolish these areas over the next number of years, and rebuild the troubled estates, in an attempt to wipe the slate clean. However, having been promised new homes as part of the City Council’s regeneration, the residents are becoming frustrated by the lack of action, living in constant fear amid an endless cycle of gangland violence and murder. But can a superficial transformation such as new homes really address such deep-rooted issues of social exclusion in the city? nickylarkin.com En Marian Zult informeerde over de stand van zaken Ik heb wel met Petra Veenstra een filmsessie gedaan op mn atelier, dat was in ieder geval erg
inspirerend. Het is ook een experiment met bluescreen-effecten, waardoor ik Petra los van een achtergrond kan monteren. Daarnaast ben ik bezig met een berlijnse stadskaart met Petra's gedicht en mijn schilderijen plaatjes en een compilatie van oude stadskaart, satelietkaart, en stukken van schilderijen daarin verwerkt.
